Raw materials for the production of carbon materials

Carbon blocks for various metallurgical furnaces (such as carbon blocks for blast furnaces, carbon blocks for ferroalloy furnaces, carbon blocks for calcium carbide furnaces, and cathode carbon blocks for aluminum electrolytic cells, etc.) are used at a certain high temperature, so the carbon blocks should have a relatively high temperature. High mechanical strength, thermal stability and corrosion resistance, but the ash content requirements are not too strict, except for the bottom carbon block used in the aluminum electrolytic cell, it is not necessary to measure the electrical conductivity. The production of carbon blocks mostly uses anthracite as aggregate and metallurgical coke as filler. In order to improve the thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance of the carbon block, a certain amount of broken graphite (or natural graphite) can be added. In order to improve the thermal conductivity of the carbon block, the semi-graphite carbon block can be produced by electric calcined anthracite.

Industrial electric furnaces (such as graphitization furnaces) use the same raw materials for conductive graphite blocks and graphite blocks for blast furnace masonry as those used for the production of ordinary power graphite electrodes.

The production of electrode paste uses anthracite and metallurgical coke as raw materials. A small amount of broken graphite should be added when producing electrode paste for large-scale closed electric furnaces to improve the sintering performance and electrical conductivity of the electrode paste in use. At the same time, electrically calcined anthracite can also be used to improve the electrical and thermal conductivity of the electrode paste. The raw materials for producing the bottom paste are the same as the bottom carbon block ingredients, which are anthracite, metallurgical coke, graphitized metallurgical coke and graphite crushed. The raw materials for producing the rough seam paste are the same as the electrode paste ingredients. The raw material for the production of fine seam paste is metallurgical coke.

The production of carbon electrodes adopts massive general calcined anthracite, electric calcined anthracite or petroleum coke as aggregate, and ground metallurgical coke or petroleum coke as powder. In order to improve the conductivity, a small amount of broken graphite can be added.

The raw materials for the production of high-purity graphite products are mainly petroleum coke, and the ash content of the raw materials is required to be as low as possible, such as less than 0.15%.

In addition to petroleum coke in the production of electric carbon products, a large number of pitch coke, natural graphite, carbon black, etc. are also used, and metal powder materials such as copper powder are used as needed.
